TODAY IS The Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

[Today ia the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is a Holy Day of Obligation for Catholics except when it falls on a Saturday or Monday. The Orthodox Churches name this feast: The Dormition (falling asleep) Of the Theotokos (God-bearer). The Anglican Churches also observe this day. What we believe and celebrate is that at the moment of her death Mary, the Mother of Jesus, was taken body and soul into heaven. Here are some of the prayers of the day from the Orthodox (1,2) and Roman Catholic Churches (3) Make them a part of your prayer today.]

In giving birth you preserved your virginity,
In falling asleep you did not forsake the world, O Theotokos.
You were translated to life, O Mother of Life,
And by your prayers, you deliver our souls from death.

Neither the tomb, nor death could hold the Theotokos,
Who is constant in prayer and our firm hope in her intercessions.
For being the Mother of Life,
She was translated to life by the One who dwelt in her virginal womb.

All-powerful and ever-living God,
you raised the sinless Virgin Mary, mother of your Son,
body and soul to the glory of heaven.
May we see heaven as our final goal and come to share her glory.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen

How about keeping us posted (Spain events) on your blog, so we can share in the experience?
Hope you had a great flight and everyone is well. Elaine

I don’t know that he’s even checking email while he’s there. I think Gina Boggess and Loretta Hammond are both posting regular updates on Facebook.
